All of us are, more or less,
dreamers. We dream about have more influence or earn more money, for instance. Basically,
be better. But for being better, we need to be risk takers. Will all of us be
risk takers? Well, this series is, precisely, about them.
“Tiny Pretty
Things” comes alive in
the Archer School of Ballet. It is an elite ballet academy almost only frequented by rich
parents’ teenagers. Until one day that everything changes, after the attempted
murder of her best world-class dancer, Cassie Shore (Anna
Maiche).
To mantain the school facade, the
director and ex ballet dancer, Monique DuBois (Lauren
Holly), tries to focus media attention on a new student, Neveah Stroyer (Kylie Jefferson). Besides she is from a poorer family,
Neveah has the same dream of the other students: being on the stages frontline
as a principal dancer.
Neveah is a strong and predestined
character. She will be the disruptor of the system and she will fight for hers
and everybody’s rights. She is not there to accept being blackmailed like every
single character. Actually, there’s a lot going on in this school.
Relationships are based in interest games. Little by little, right on the time,
they are all being revealed. But of one thing we can be sure, ballet
is not an easy art performance, not even an easy business. Sometimes, there is
a thin line between business and pleasure, which is really well told in the
series.
In
an elite academy like this, there is a lot of pressure to be the best dancer. All
day, someone else constrols what they eat, what they wear, how they move and
who they touch. They are strapped into a roller coaster with their fiercest
competitors. And, even like this, they are what they call by corps, the
company’s lowest. Only there is power in that hunger. It drives corps to take
crazy risks in order to stand out from the crowd.
As
a consequence, in this series, there’s a several betrayals stories and lies
that characters have to pass through in order to fit in the challenging world
of ballet. All these characters share a rare talent and passion for dance. And
when it comes to their dreams, there is no plan B. So, we are left with one
question to answer until the serie’s end: how far can they go ir order to make a
dream come true?
The Archer School of Ballet is
bigger than any student. Here, anyone is safe and, in a place like this, the
best dancer will be always motive to envy. It will be always someone who is
right on their back waiting to get their place. However, there’s a lesson to
learn from it, “if they risk too much and fly too high”,
they can end up like Cassie, in an hospital bed, clinging to life. But, would
be Cassie who we tought she would be?
Like in Agatha Christie’s stories,
in “Tiny Pretty Things”, there is too a lot of characters who could have
committed the crime for plenty of reasons. So far, we only know that the
attempted murder happened in a night secret party with every tier-three student.
Right on the serie’s end, we
understand that this misterious and intriguing story will continue. Nearly after
the attempted murder of Cassie being solved, the season ends with a new murder,
this time, a real one.
